Lafeber’s makes a delicious treat known as Nutriberries. Here, we have a recipe so you can make your own.

Homemade Nutriberries

This recipe was submitted by Julea (LinElated) on the forum, and a few members have gone ahead and tried this recipe. It has been a hit with their birds!

1 cup dried fruit of your choice
2 tablespoons coconut
1/2 cup old fashioned oatmeal, uncooked
1/4 cup seed mix of any kind
1/4 cup pellets, your choice
2 tablespoons honey or molasses

Put first 3 items in a blender/food processor and blend.

Add the rest of the ingredients–it will be sticky!

On a greased or parchment paper lined cookie sheet, roll balls of various sizes and put 1″ apart.

Bake at 325 degrees for 15-20 min.

Check at 15 min to make sure they are not brown, but set.

Cool and store in a tightly covered jar.

  1. Nick..I found NONE of my birds liked them…Perhaps I cooked them to long as they were hard as rocks…I used the hammer to crush them LOL!!! I told you all I hated cooking..

  2. I’m sorry to hear it didn’t work out, Gail! I wonder why they came out so hard?

Perhaps some others can chime in and offer some advice. :)

  3. Mine turned out great! I did keep mine in the fridge, as they had a tendancy to fall apart if left in the cupboard. I also wanted to make sure they didn’t go bad.

Perhaps you cooked them too long, Gail?

  4. VERY COOL!! I love being able to make these – that is sooooo much cheaper than buying them + I can use organic ingredients. Woo Hoo!! i’m going to try it soon and try almond paste instead of honey or molasses. Thanks a bunch Julea!
