Talking Hello Everyone!

Hello Everyone!

Hello,

I am very happy to have found a site dedicated to linnies! I think they are so amazingly cute. It's next to impossible to find them here in Miami. I am actually getting my first linnie at the end of this month, its actually a pretty long drive to get the little angle, he's in Tampa. I am soooooo excited! Fortunately I am pretty experienced with small birds. I have a pair of Black masked Lovebirds, a pair of Bourkes parakeets, a pair of parrotlets, and a pair of GCC's (Green Cheek Conures). But my biggest love, the one that started me on the path to LOVING birds is Baby. A 7 year old peachface lovebird. He is well, my baby. I adore him. I'm trying to read up on all of the personal experiences that the people on this site have been kind enough to share. I want to make sure I do everything right for my new linnies. If I'm fortunate I plan to get him a mate, I would love to breed linnies. Sweet, happy, handfed babies that I could offer to the people of Miami. Who knows how many other people here are here looking for a linnie as a pet and can't find one. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Thank you all for reading my really long boring post. I hope to hear (read) from you all really soon

welcome to the forum, this is a great place, friendly people, fantastic birds, and so much information
looks like you already have mbs ( multiple bird syndrome), and the linnie strain is very contagious

Hello Denise, welcome, we are all bird crazy here, many of us suffer from MBS-Multiple Bird syndrome! This forum is the best as there are so many diffent categories and posts that I have learned quite a bit in my short time here. Having no Linnie books on the mrket makes it hardbut here everybody fills in the gaps.

Any problems and everybody pitches in.

Anton

Thank you everyone!
I do indeed seem to have MBS...I just can't imagine my life without my birdies...I  them! I always come home from work straight to see how they all are. They all start singing and jumping because they want my attention. Especially the bourkes. I have found a lot of great information on here. I still have about 2 weeks till I can go get Onyx so that gives me enough time to research what kind of toys linnies like and what their favorite snacks are. I will of course have a million questions once he's home but I'm sure I'll find all the answers I need right here.

Well, they don't always have babies, they're fairly small breeders, but spring IS coming...

Oh BTW I have it too and I'm sure I caught it from Anton

Welcome to the forum, your lovebird is nice looking. You will love your linnie and there are very addictive. I started with one and now have four linnies. I have MBS too. Is your new linnie a slate?

Actually no, the linnie I'm getting is a cobalt. I picked the name Onyx as an homage to one of my moms friends. She had a husky named Onyx and had to give him up when she lost her house.

Well, cobalt blue is a deep blue. Slate is a dark, almost grey, with a blue hint. Grey... I'm guessing that may refer to the dilutes? Here are some pics, if it helps..

Cobalt

Slate
