Default Boo has been a naughty boy....

Boo has been a naughty boy....

I don't know what has gotten into him lately, but in the last 3 days he has been hard at work. I don't like to use the little metal pear links so have always replaced them with zip ties. Worked well until 3 days ago when I came home from work and every toy that was ziptied to the cage were laying on the bottom of the cage.:noway: That was 8 toys, and Lori's boing and bagel swing!:noway: What the heck! I'd never noticed any of them chewing/messing with any of the ties. I preceded to replace all of the zipties with pear links....AND the very next day, the birdy tube/bed I made was hanging by one end!:noway: Boobert had untied the pollyrope I used to hang it! They were triple knotted!:noway: Soooo...this all leads up into what happened today! I'd noticed for awhile that when out of the cage, Boo will periodically lick/bite on the wing nuts holding the branches in place. All 4 boys have done this in the past, but today was different! He went to town on one of the wing nuts and BABOOM! The branch falls to the floor of the cage!:noway: Of course the wing nut and washer go flying and Booey gets spooked and flies off!:snicker:

Anyway, this is my little workhorse preparing for the job at hand. But he didn't make another move until I put the camera away. Didn't want proof, I'm guessing!
"Wing nut? What wing nut?"

And this is pretty much what he's been doing the rest of the time!

If you have a Big Lots around you, go check out their bird toys. For $3.50 I got a HUGE treat puzzle that I fill with Nutriberries and small wooden toys. B & J have a blast with it! Of course in the photo, they are a bit more concerned with the camera I'm sticking in their cage!

Boo is certain a little rascal; however, he looks angelic when he is sleeping. I love how you have nicknames for your birds (Boobert, Booey). Miss Chanel is Chanellie. Ping (RIP) was Pingie; Pong (RIP) Pongski etc.

Wow!
Boo is behaving more like a larger bird undoing all that hardware and such.
Have you tried using pliers to secure the hardware? I find hand tightening to lack what is needed to secure links and wing nuts with most birds. If using pear links make sure the larger side of the link is down and the narrow section up especially if any birds have leg bands. Pear links can be very safe but must be hung correctly.
Has anyone told Boo he's a linnie?

Up until now, I've thought of Boo as pretty layed back, if somewhat shy.
I def use the pear links upside down. I have never liked them but am glad I saved them.

Maybe you caught Boo in the middle of rearranging his cage and he had no time to put the toys where he wanted them?

So, When you figure something out let me know. Tonight was the second time in a few weeks I have walked in the bird room to see an Empty Stewie cage. He keeps letting himself out to visit the other birds. He pops Zip ties, and unscrews pear clips. I dont know how to keep him in his cage anymore. I dont know if my heart can keep taking the shock lol.

Oh, my land. BOO..sweet little laid back, not a care in the world Boo?? I can hardly believe it!!!! The LAST bird I would imagine being in the Mensa class. Just goes to show you, he was holding back. That is SO funny. He might enjoy some of those puzzle toys that larger birds can figure out.

Hope Perrier isn't taking lessons!

Back when I could bring my birds to work with me, my greencheek flew into my colleague Tim's office and pulled out all the T-pins. All his documents were laying on the floor. Then she'd fly off and drop the T-pins on someone else's desk. Hmm.... no wonder they said I couldn't bring my birds to the office anymore. LOL :shrug2:

You've got a handful with your demolition Linnie. He knows how to entertain himself that's for sure. It must be fun to hear things crashing down onto the floor. That bird needs more drama in his life.

what a smarty pants! Goober undoes all her toy clips, I have to twist them on with pliers to keep her from undoing them Maybe get some of the stainless steel toys from My Safe Bird Store? They are different screws, washers & nuts but are unable to be disassembled. so they can screw and unscrew them without losing parts.
