Looking for a Scottish Linnie (UK, SCOTLAND)

Hellohello!

I am Maren and I live in Scotland near Perth and Dundee. I am new to Linnies and am currently looking to get my very first bird. I don't mind if male or female. I like pretty much any colour, just not soooooo keen on the greens. Don't know why... they are just too green for me.

I read it is best to keep them with company, so two would be ideal, but I know how hard it can be to get them...

Let me know, if you have some yourself, or if you know someone, who might have some or knows someone, how might have some or knows someone, who might have some or... you get the idea.

Thank you so much! Looking forward to any replies!
Thanks!
Maren

Hi Maren, Finding linnies in scotland is tough. Mick Curran lives in Paisley and I think he is soon hoping to breed his birds. So far he is the only breeder I could find up our neck of the woods. Unfortunately there used to be a guy in Dunfermline but he has now retired from breeding. If your prepared to travel way down south you may get some. Check out the desperately seeking linnies uk thread. If I hear of anyone else I'll give you a shout.

Hi lindz!

Ah, don't tell me! Just learned that Mick's two (a breeding pair) were sold by his ex-girlfriend, even though I had contacted him directly (also on the 'desperately seeking linnies thread!), and had left hints all over the forum and facebook group for him, indicating that I'd be too happy to take them! Argh! Now, I guess, I have to wait... You don't have a breeding pair on eggs by any chance? This is very frustrating... I can't believe there are not more breeders up here in Scotland. They are soooo cute, how come they are still that scarcely distributed??? Weird...

Thanks for your offer, yes, if you do hear anything, please shout loud and clear! I'll be right there!

Default no luck

when did you find out about Mick's girlfriend selling them? He had told me not that long ago that when he had chicks he'd give me a shout. Bummer. Unfortunately my 2 have been relatively unsuccessful at breeding. We has 2 chicks a few years back but think mum was too caring and smothered them. There used to be a guy in dunfermline but he has given it up.
Have been searching for couple of years now with no luck. The breeders in England are way down south so too far away.
Will holar if I find anything

Hi lindz!

He didn't have chicks, those were adult birds, maybe that is why he didn't contact you? Well, at the moment it seems to be quite tricky to get hold of him. Seems to have a lot of other things going on.

Shame you were unlucky with your two. Otherwise there now would be two breeders in Scotland!! And I'd be contacting you as well!

Hm... actually... you know what? Where is it that you live? The situation up here in Scotland seems to be so desperate, that I was even thinking about a bird courier. But, on my own, it is very expensive. But, imagine the cost could be shared? Imagine, maybe apj had two Linnies, maybe we could organise the transport, share the cost and we both end up with a birdy?! Hm, I don't know if that is possible?

Hello everyone out there reading this: Does somebody have experience with this??

It all depended on the difference in cost: How much do they charge you for one bird? And would they charge you twice that for a second bird? I mean... does it matter to them if there are one or two birds in the cage? I kinda can't believe that!
So, if we did that, we could get them sent to you, share the costs and then I come down and pick one up (I think I live further north, is that right (I live 20 min. north of Perth)).

I know that apj has Linnies on eggs! Maybe... maybe....!!

What do you think??
