This whole website is a forum. Hence it's title, "The Linnie Forum". By definition, forum means "a public facility to meet for open discussion ". A more descriptive name is "online message forum".

The whole forum is divided into many sections which are also called forums. They are sometimes called sub-forums, boards, sections, or categories. For understanding purposes, we will refer to them as "sections".
Some examples of sections we have on this site are "Lineolated Parakeet Health", "Chit-Chat", "General Lineolated Parakeet Talk", and all the other sections you see as you scroll down the forum index.

Inside each section are threads. Threads contain a series of messages posted by users that discuss a particular subject. By definition: "In online discussions, a series of messages that have been posted as replies to each other. A single forum or conference typically contains many threads covering different subjects. By reading each message in a thread, one after the other, you can see how the discussion has evolved." Here is one example of a thread, discussing vitamins and supplements.

Threads are made up of posts. Each message added to the thread by a user is called a post.

Creating a new thread is very easy. You first need to go to the section[?] that you want to create your thread in. Threads shouldn't be added in just any random section. You must make your thread in the appropriate section based on the section's purpose.

Above the list of threads in that section on the left side is a button that says "New Thread":
Upon clicking that button, you are taken to a screen where you can enter your message. You must choose a title for your thread. Then you can enter your message in the text box.

When done, scroll down to below the message editor and click "Submit New Thread".

To reply to a thread, you must add your post. While viewing the thread you wish to reply to, you will see a "Post Reply" button above the first post and below the last post on the page. . Click that button.

Upon clicking that button, you are taken to the message interface. Simply enter your message in the "Message" area. From here you can add smilies, attachments, special formatting, etc. You can find more information on this here.

When done entering your message, click "Submit Post" below the message editor.
