Is the "mauve" color actually light yellow, or am I misunderstanding something?

If this is already answered somewhere, I'd appreciate a link!

I have an adult linnie, I think a male, but I don't know for sure. I have several other birds as well. I recently moved Argyle, my linnie out of my office/bird room after he got too close to my Meyers. He wasn't hurt, but he could have been. He is very interested in my other birds. When out, he hangs on the Cockatiel cage. In the family room where he is now, all the birds have cage mates. I get the feeling that Argyle wants a bird to be close to. I have never had an issue when adding Cockatiels, Budgies, Lovebirds and having them get along. It seems to me, from all I have heard that Linnies tend to do great in a pair of two or a large group. I have been thinking about getting a second linnie, and I do, of course, realize that all birds are individuals, but I wonder if most people who have added a second linnie have had success with them getting along with their first one. I have heard a lot of stories of three being a bad number, in fact, that is how I ended up with Argyle. Just wondering if anyone has had adding a second linnie NOT be good for their first linnie. Thank you!

Hi Linnie Forum Folks!

It's been a while. Darwin has been doing well. He's getting close to being a year and a half. He's definitely a quirky little fellow- and about every 6 weeks decides he hates me for a few days (always me, never my husband or kids, lol. ). Though, we do attribute it to hormones, I have to admit I get my feelings hurt from time-to-time (I know that that's silly and he's just acting like a bird, but...LOL).

Anyway, as the title of my thread states we're moving and I need help and advice. I just went to book tickets for our family to fly and came to the very sad realiztion that Southwest wont let me take Darwin on the flight (the only direct/nonstop flight from BWI to ABQ). Ugh. Then I started searching other airlines but haven't yet found one...but I certainly didn't check all airlines...thought I'd ask here first. Does anyone know airlines that allow birds in cabin?

Anyone have experience moving with their linnie (flying, not driving)? The large cage will be shipped with movers. We don't have a permanent home to move into yet so we may be in temporary housing. I'd rather carry him on with us rather than have a friend send him cargo. Besides, it's going to NM- HOT! I thought about getting a temporary cage like this http://www.birdsafestore.com/Product....shopzilla.com for while we're in temp housing & waiting for our belongings but I'm concerned about the spacing of the bars. The smallest of that type of cage is 3/4" -- is that enough?

Adding to the problem is, we have a cat too. I guess I can put the bird cage in the bathroom with the door closed if we're not in the room. This all makes me very nervous. Our movers come June 18th. We fly out June 23rd so I'll need the fold-flat cage for 5 days before we leave, a carrier for the plane, and then pack the fold-down in our luggage. OR do I shell out a gazallion dollars for one of those clear cages I'll never use again? But that's too small for him to stay in for a month, I'd suspect. Poor guy, it seems like he won't be able to get out much for exercise during that time (I guess we can lock the cat in the bathroom so Darwin can get out for a while). Ugh, this is so much to think about.

Any feedback is WELCOME!! I've searched the forum, it wan't easy to find any posts similar but if you know of one please send me a link.

Can anyone offer ideas? Suggestions? Experience? Things I haven't thought about?

The skinny is we may be in an extended stay hotel for up to a month OR perhaps a furnished condo while we sell our house on the East Coast & buy one in ABQ. We just don't have any permanent plan yet. Except we're going & I need to book a flight soon (summer books up). Also, I don't mind splitting our family for the flight out there: like 3 on a SW flight with the cat & 2 fly with Darwin on another airline etc.

Thanks!
~Jen

Hi, sorry I've been away for so long, things to do places to see, then I couldn't log on. Last year George accompanied me on a tour of England in my caravan, and has taken an interest in everything I eat, his favourite is porridge which he eats from my teaspoon. He also likes milk in the teaspoon as long as it is not too cold. He gets very excited when I sit down to eat and comes to the cage door to see what is on offer.

This year we are on another tour this time with my partner and her budgie, Sunny, and her two owl finches, Teeny and Tiny, who laid four eggs at the start of the trip four weeks ago. We now have three baby owl finches (one didn't make it) who are due to fledge in a weeks time. His old pal Rosie the tarantula is also with us.

George is very fascinated by the little cheepie noises coming from the other end of the caravan.

Considering getting a linnie?

I've been doing research and have been getting information that says linnies are not overly active, best kept as 2 or more or they're spiritless and boring. Then other websites saying linnies are very active, playful, extremely social wanting to be with or on their owners, comical, very keen on snuggling with you and will treat you as their soul mate. Also, that they are loudest in the morning and night, then are quite unless something strange and unfamiliar enters their sight. And one website says they're moderately noisy with their contact calls while another says they make great apartment birds and are quite.

I've been on youtube looking up linnie noises, and can't find their contact calling, but otherwise their chirps aren't irritating. So I have questions: Is your linnie very active or a perch potato? and does your linnie snuggle/want to be with you? How do you interact with your linnie? ie.) rides around on your shoulder, plays in your hair, set him/her down on playstand. Any suggestions/tips/etc is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
