Sergio's latest thing. What ever I am doing he has to go down from my shoulder to the front of my shirt and get a close inspection of what's going on, usually hanging upside down throughout the process. In this case, I was refilling his pellet dish. :giggle:
He's developed into a very smart, inquisitive and funny little guy. He's also been very talkative lately which has been fun! He showers with me almost daily and that's when he seems to like practicing new words and whistles. :lovehearts:

Hello my birds used to love banana & get it all over their faces lol but for some reason they won't even touch it now. I chop it finely the same way as always & I also stopped giving it for a while incase they got bored of it, so then I tried it again & still not interested anymore. Could they have gone off it or their taste is changing? Luckily it's not something they have to eat but a nice fruit all the same. I never give the same thing too often all the time as it can get borring anyway but just found this a bit odd lol. X:confused:

Hi everyone! Been awhile since I have posted, life is keeping me pretty busy. I pop in for mod stuff but that's about it lately. I am going to try to post more now.
Sorry for dropping the ball on the photo contests, I got behind and will start them fresh for June.

Some news on the home front, I have a new addition to the flock. Her name is Dale and she is a 15 yr old Meyers Parrot. Her family was moving and couldn't take all their birds with them. I am her 3rd home, she was a breeder who was then tamed to be a pet and lived with her last owners for 6 years before coming to live with me 2 weeks ago. Her parents drove all the way from Indiana to NY to bring her to me.
She is pretty laid back and chill like B. Angel. She is going through a hormonal period right now so we are not really bonding yet, she has a Jeckyll and Hyde personality right now and can bite really hard! But I am learning her body language. I know we will be good friends when the poor girl settles in and is not going through hormones.

The other birds adjusted just fine to Dale moving in. They could pretty much care less, which is good.
Everyone else is doing great.
Sampson and Napoleon are now living together and get along great. But as soon as I open the cage Sampon is out and on me because he is still my buddy. Napoleon is still cage bound and not tame at all but that is ok. He seems happy with his new buddy even though Sampson leaves him as soon as the door opens, lol

Big Angel is still her awesome sweet self and loves her scritches. L. Angel is still her sassy, cute little self. Everyone is great.

Now some pics :D

I moved Darwin into Dingo and Beattle's cage a couple days ago, and it's working out! So I've got two male budgies (one English, one American), and one male linnie in one cage. The budgies are definitely good friends, and Beattle does his own thing. They are in a A&E flight cage. Beattle is a bit wary of Darwin still, but I've been keeping my eye on him to make sure he's still playing, eating, and drinking with Darwin in the cage.

So yay!

Hello, I am new here and have been looking for a linnie. I found a person who has two three month olds available in the color I want (green) but they are three months old. They were hand fed and he says he doesn't have time to play with them everyday but they are still sweet.
So is this an okay situation for a first time linnie owner looking for a pet? Or should I wait for a newly weaned baby? Thanks!
Edit: I should mention it is a five and a half hour drive, so it's not like I can just go check them out :)

She's shy, will let me hold her for a little while but wants to get away from me pretty quick, I' m not pushing it, just want her to get use to me some. She has tons of toys but does' nt seem to care to much about them. She was handfed, how long do you think it will be before she thinks I ' m a good thing?? I don't want to scare her.

Hi, folks. I haven't been on these boards since March because I pet sit for a Linny from down the hall. Last time I had the bird for 6 weeks & got myself educated about care. When she came to pick up the bird, I had prepared notes for her, which she paid no attention to and continues to not do what's in Chica's best interest - doesn't cover her at night, doesn't keep her diet proper, burns insense near the cage, etc. Well, I'm petsitting for Chica again starting May 22-June 4. The owner has indicated she has decided to travel & just get a cage and have the bird travel with her - to New York & other places - because - are you ready? she discovered others were able to get their hotels paid for that had animals and it was "cool" to have an animal in your hotel when she was going to be there for a few days. I asked her, so you don't care about what's best for the bird, just what's good for your wallet and ego? She said she'd travelled with the bird before & would work it out. I have to say I am tempted to just not give her the bird back when she returns from Las Vegas. She'd probably call the police and I don't have a leg to stand on - I even thought about trying to rehome the bird to a good bird person before she returns & tell her the bird died or something. It's so hard to go to her place and see bird's not being taken care of properly - the bird comes right to me & cuddles into my shoulder/face. Any thoughts about the situation would be welcome. Thanks.

One of my linnies had the misfortune Sunday to have her leg through the cage grate as I was putting the tray back in. I wasn't paying attention, just talking to the birds and the result was a broken leg. Poor little girl, I could have puked . Today off to the Vet and $334.66 later my little girl is sporting a tiny pink cast. I hope she keeps it on. She was doing a bit of picking at the tape...
Just can't be careful enough with these precious birds.

They seem to be hard to find. I live in middle TN and am willing to drive quite a distance to get a hand fed baby if anyone knows any breeders in the area. I think I want a green one but I am still looking at the color varieties/mutations.
Any advice is welcome and in the meantime I will search the forum to learn all I can so I can give my baby the best home possible! Thanks and I look forward to getting to know everyone :)

some of you might remember that we had a 29 gallon tank that originally housed a blue lobster and a few guppies. When Ned died, my daughter divided the tank into 3 sections and added 3 male betta, a few neon and some snails.

When I got home from work tonight, her bedroom was flooded and there was only about an inch of water on the bottom. My daughter was able to save 2 neon, 3 guppies and one betta. The betta doesn't look good, but I hope he makes it. She's been gone since Wed. night and the last time i checked on the rats was last night. We couldn't find any cracks so don't know what happened.
I am looking for quality breeders around my area. I actually live closer to Portland, Or. than Seattle. I LOVE the Mauve/Slate colored ones, but those seem hard to come by! Also A reasonable price.
I was going to get a Parrotlet- and may still want to but I like that these birds seem a lot sweeter, and will be a first time bird owner!

Hi All,

Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask, or if I should not be asking this at all.

I had (linnie) Daphne for about 10 until she passed away very unexpectedly March 2011. She was a rescue, having been abandoned to a shady pet store I happened to be looking for fish in. She was my best little pal, and I haven't been up to even updating my profile about losing her until recently. Her passing still kicks my backside daily. I have Daisy - a linnie given to me by my bird vet in January 2011. She's doing well, flying around, eating well, bathing. She's not snuggly but I don't expect her to be, or force her to be. I'm glad she's healthy and gets her freedom around the condo.

I often look on Craigslist, Kijiji, Greyhaven (local bird rescue) for a potential new linnie, but struggle with it too. How do I know if I'm ready? Is it fair to Daisy to bring in a new one? Is it wrong to get a bird that's a non rescue? I think of all the birds who have been abandoned and need homes, and worry that it's not right to get a baby bird with all those others in need. Is it wrong to hope that a new bird might make me feel less sad about losing Daphne?

Again sorry if this isn't the right place to ask these things. I see there are adorable little blue babies up for sale near me, and I'm so on the fence about seeing if I can bring one home. Guess that's just bringing this more to the surface.

Thanks for any advice.

First let me tell you about my special linnie:

My girl Violet is only 11 weeks old and has recently recovered from a bacterial induced arthritis with an extensive array of medications. What I thought was blindness (breeder's guess, because of her clumsiness, lack of activity, and head tilt) turned out to be her joints wasting away and she could hardly walk and certainly couldn't fly. Basically all she did was sleep. I later researched this and found that it was probably from the smoke infested house the breeder lived in.

NEVER BUY FROM Laura's Linnie Nest in WA. After I told her what the vet said, got defensive and fabricated that I had done something to make her so sick. It was like a child lying right to your face, even though they know, YOU know they're lying. Anyway, I'm done with that luny!

Now, however, she is healthy (Still doesn't prefer to perch only because of permanent damage in right leg) and VERY vibrant! I'm so happy she is a normal bird now, and people don't look at her and ask me, "Is she dead?"

BUT, since her previous mannerisms were the only thing I knew, I'd like to know if this is normal:

Screaming for an hour or more in the morning.

It doesn't bother me that much, (with the exception of the ear-splitting ones that she'll let loose every so often) I just figured she missed me all night and wants to chat it up! (I've had tiels before her, and they did this too, but they calmed down as soon as I took them out to play.) She is also is very evasive at this time. She doesn't want to be touched. She's not being crazy, just unsettled. It seems that she's confused. It takes no less than one hour to be able to cuddle her. Oh and she is out of her cage every minute that I'm home. Any thoughts? This is, after all, my first and ONLY linnie until her dying day.

Thanks in advance!
Carissa

Hi everybody. Sorry I have not been in contact lately. Had a sick Linnie. Pebbles unfortunately became unwell. Her feathers were fluffed up and you could sometime see every breath she took. Things seemed to be getting worse although she was still eating drinking and responding when i spoke to her. With the agreement of our vet as the best thing to do we put her to sleep. I did not want to let her suffer but I just didn't know how attached you could become to these dear little birds.

As suggested by the vet my other three Linnies have been watched constantly and thankfully a month later they seem fine. Pebbles partner has teamed up with the other two and seems fine.
Although prior to this I was starting to think about getting another couple I will wait just to make sure all is well. The vet did not give any real result to why she became unwell but did not feel it would be a problem to the others and unfortunately to investigate would be very expensive.

Pebbles has been laid to rest close to the avairy with her friends.

So the boys got their new cage and LOVE it!!! I thought they would need time to warm up too it but they couldn't even wait for me to decorate it before moving in.:giggle:

Anyway, the boys are still fighting occasionally. It usually happens when they are preening each other. House goes too far and can't take a hint until Wilson loses it. They are loosing the last of their baby fluff so they have been wanting to bathe and preen a lot.

I've also noticed House keeps trying to swing his leg across Wilson's back like he is trying to hump him!? I figured they were too young for sexual behavior to start. I don't care what they do, I just want them to get along and not hurt each other. How do you know when the fighting is going too far? I don't think it has yet but if it does I want to recognize it right away.Thankyou

I want to do pet therapy in retirement homes ect. and am wondering if a Linnie would be a good bird for it (adaptable to travelling, strange places and different people ect) I posted in Behavior, Bonding and Training on the therapy topic and would appreciate any thoughts on which sex might be better/friendlier/adaptable and socializing/training. Anyone out there doing therapy pet work with a Linnie? Thanks for any answers!
Besides the ELEVEN :yikes: babies that I'm handfeeding, pictured below, we just bought a house and are painting the whole inside before we move in on Memorial Day week end. So right now I'm feeding: 2 caiques, 3 moustache parakeets, 2 plum headed parakeets, and 4 lovebirds. That's a lot of babies! I'll be getting some more linnies in June after we move. It's fun and rewarding but tiring all at the same time - especially with the move. What was I thinking? Any way, here is a picture that I took of all of the babies:

So my store brand just changed the look of all their trash bag boxes, and I needed some more for birdy things. I bought a package and got home only to realize that it had a strong flowery smell.

I looked over the box and the only thing it says on it (in SMALL writing!) is "odor control". The bags smell very perfume-y, and it's noticeable enough that I can smell it from 5 feet away.

Should I throw these out? I'm afraid to use them because I don't want to hurt the birds. The box doesn't say a thing about animals on it, so I don't know.

I'll have to pay very close attention when I buy these in the future.

Good evening all!

I've been reading threads on here pretty much solidly since Saturday afternoon when we bought our first Linnies!

Up until the point that we walked into the pet shop we had prepared ourselves for buying Cockatiels, and had bought and read books so we knew what we were doing. That was the plan anyway, until we got to the pet shop and fell in love with these two cheeky chappies:

Anyway, we were instantly converted, and picked them up, so I've been trying to swot-up and learn the do's and don'ts of keeping Linnies!

Anywho, that's enough waffling for now! All that's left to say is thank you for a really helpful and informative forum!

While I was browsing through our local bargain shop I found out that they now sell pet supplies and toys. I found this and thought it might be something Maverick would like. It is supposed to be a dog toy but I can't see any reason it could not be used for a linnie. The rings are large enough for him to sit in and use as a swing or perch and are made from the same material as his rope perches. The plush center piece has an elastic running through the middle so it is stretchy. I just wanted all your opinions on it before I give it to him to make sure it is safe. He has shown absolutely no interest in toys up to this point and this one he seems to really want to get to and check out.

So Ive missed all of you and the forum like crazy! But we have been in the process of moving and getting the new house all settled. I also am working off my horses board by doing chores for the gal so little spare time right now, but loving life!

Just wanted to drop by and say hi to everyone and let you know that all the linnies and the single english budgie are doing wonderful! I actually went to the pet store today to browse and was oh so tempted to get him a $19.99 cage mate Budgie but stopped myself lol.. Maybe some day when I know if he or she is a he or she lol.

Well I hope everyone is doing great, I keep trying to check the forum every other day just to read threads, but once things settle down in life I plan to be an active member again.

Well signing off for now as its bed time!

Hi Everyone,
So we are going to have a new exciting addition to our household this fall... I'm pregnant!!
My biggest worry is my sweet Linnie bird. What if I can't spend time with her every day like I do now. She favours me over my husband so I worry that he won't be an adequate replacement.
Would it be better to get a second Linnie to keep her company? I really don't want to have to find a new home for my sweet girl but I'm worried I won't be able to give her all the love and affection I currently am.

Does anyone have any thoughts, suggestions, or similar situations?
Thanks!

I don't know what has gotten into him lately, but in the last 3 days he has been hard at work. I don't like to use the little metal pear links so have always replaced them with zip ties. Worked well until 3 days ago when I came home from work and every toy that was ziptied to the cage were laying on the bottom of the cage.:noway: That was 8 toys, and Lori's boing and bagel swing!:noway: What the heck! I'd never noticed any of them chewing/messing with any of the ties. I preceded to replace all of the zipties with pear links....AND the very next day, the birdy tube/bed I made was hanging by one end!:noway: Boobert had untied the pollyrope I used to hang it! They were triple knotted!:noway: Soooo...this all leads up into what happened today! I'd noticed for awhile that when out of the cage, Boo will periodically lick/bite on the wing nuts holding the branches in place. All 4 boys have done this in the past, but today was different! He went to town on one of the wing nuts and BABOOM! The branch falls to the floor of the cage!:noway: Of course the wing nut and washer go flying and Booey gets spooked and flies off!:snicker:

Anyway, this is my little workhorse preparing for the job at hand. But he didn't make another move until I put the camera away. Didn't want proof, I'm guessing! :giggle:
"Wing nut? What wing nut?"

well lokie is now a year old, last fall she laid 5 eggs total all on bare bottom, didnt try to brood (she was alone) and she broke 3 of them...i removed thebroken ones imediatly left the intact ones for a few days to make sure she was "done" and wasnt going to try to repace them and then removed them.
then i got her a boyfriend, Cricket...he is supposedly a proven male form a pair and he lost his mate.
they are "in love" (hes constantly preening (though not over preening) her) and such.

we moved in october form CT to TN, they did very well with the move, and then no laying from lokie all winter

well now shes a year old i decided to put up the nest box, i havent activly seen mating, but they are very "cozy"
nest box is a lovebird size with felt in the bottom and aspen shavings to a depth of about 2".
they started going in the box with no issues. then on sunday there was an egg in the box...
by sunday evening, the egg was gone, all but a small epcie of shell.
This morning egg number 2, at 3pm today the egg was also gone (all but about 1/2 of the shell with a little yolk)

:(

now these 2 are both REALY picky eaters, i cant for the life of me get them onto pellet so there on a seed mix, they have a cuttle bone (and do nibble on it, though not as much as i expected) and i give them apple, millet and chopped boiled egg WITH the shell...

do you think this is a calcium issue and shes destroying the eggs to eat them
or do you think its more of an inexperience issue and there just stepping on the eggs in the box, breking them and then eating them because their broken?
it seems to be the egg last 4-6 hours before being destroyed.
input or thoughts would be great.

Their cage is in the guest bedroom so its quiet, no distractions no stress of the dogs being neer the cage ect. there on a natural light schedual, and the eggs ook normal from the quick check i do on the nest box in the am and before bed. (no touching, i just lift the lid a little and take a peek in)
id like them to be sucessfull, but i dont want to jepordize her health either.

i was hoping id be able to candle this clutch to establish fertility as i wasnt given the dna cert for cricket, he sertainly "looks" male though (hes a normal green and is VERY heavily black on the shoulder and tail) but am hoping to avoid another DNA on him if possible...a sucessful clutch obviously proves sex

.Thankyou

I finally decided to ask my husband if I could get a bigger cage and he said yes!!! He has been pretending not to like House and Wilson but everytime they are out and he is ignoring them, they come running over. Wilson sits on him and looks at him with lovey eyes and wants kisses. House makes him laugh with all his antics. He was making fart noises yesterday and House was very interested and then all of a sudden totally freaked out! He is such a push over!:giggle:

Anyway, I have been noticing the boys bickering more in the cage and think they need more space and he agreed so I'm shopping online today. I think I'm getting the A&E flight cage and keeping the old cage for hospital cage or extra when I'm cleaning the bigger cage OR maybe another bird can go in there!!!!:rofl2:

With a very bad start due to our ever changing weather and severe fluctuating temperature,s here in the uk causing a very large amt of dead in shell,I can at last bring some good news

Popey and Fudge have hatched 2 out of 4 eggs

Scruff and Squeek have also hatched 2 out of 6 eggs

Zippy and girls have also hatched 2 out of 11 eggs

Awaiting to see if anymore hatch but don't think they will..............

And i have got one parotlet baby out of 5 (she is 4 weeks now) and being parent raised

And one more love bird baby out of six eggs.....(who will be pulled this week)

So as tragic as the start was with my bourks and love bird pair having all dead in shell,Some good news has come.

But still praying that this weather doesn't cause any more baby death's as temps are severely fluctuating, and after our drought warnings just over a week ago we now have flood warnings due to heavy rain fall.....

So we were wondering if Linnie's breed easily, or if they can be odd or quirky about it. We had 2 breeder pairs of parrotlets, that we never could get to even look at a nest box, let alone breed. If anyone can shed some light on how hard it is to breed Linnie's it would be appreciated. Thankyou

Hi, I'm joining to get advice on how best to look after my husband's 2 lineolated parakeets.
They are both green. The older one is called Watson and is roughly about 8-10 years old. He originally came with a partner who died a few years ago. After having great trouble in sourcing another friend for him we eventually managed to find Kiwi who we've had a couple of years now. Watson would not tolerate him in his cage and bullied him so we had to buy Kiwi another cage.
My husband hasn't done any kind of training with them and I am aware that it may be too late to get Watson to co-operate. I would love to have them out of the cage but am woefully ignorant about linnie care. They are beautiful birds and very sweet and I want them to have the best life possible. They have a big cage each and toys, I try and give them fruit but they only seem to like apple so far. I also spend time by just talking to them and sitting next to their cages. If the weather is nice I put their cages outside in the garden and keep a close eye on them. I'm hoping that I can learn lots from you guys and help my little friends have a happier life. Thanks.

Hello,
A few weeks ago I posted that I had put a deposit on a olive baby, who turned out to be a boy by DNA, since then I changed my mind and I decided on a little mauve female from the same breeder. She will be ready in about two weeks, I'm excited and nervious at the same time. I've read post about other owners getting bit by their new babies and older linnies and it kind of worried me. I went on the linnie blog and read the artical about taming and bonding and it helped me a lot. Any other advice from some of the experts out there is welcomed!!

Hi,

I have a two and a half year old linnie named Jazz. This morning I took him into the kitchen with me as I got his breakfast together. I put him on the counter and turned my back to get his bowls and he jumped down from the counter to the ground (a really bad habit of his when I stop paying attention to him). So I picked him up and put him back up on the counter when I noticed he was walking funny and then he held his wings out at an odd angle and couldn't balance. He was really jittery and jerky with his movements for about 2 minutes but then started walking and acting fine. He ate all his breakfast, drank water, ran around his cage, and is now preening himself. Was this a seizure? And should I be really concerned? This also happened back in September but that was after a terrible trip to a vet school where they butchered his wings but I won't get into that rant.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks guys :)

Tonight like any night we had Doris And Charlie out our two cockatiels,
After nearly a year of them living together and showing no signs of any close friendship,We had come to believe they were both boys,Doris was as loud as any male could be....

After a few flights round the room,Doris fell to the floor and became very quiet,She sat on my lap and i stroked her back,Which was strange as she never likes hands...After a while we put her back in her cage, thinking she would feel better quiet in her own cage.

Still not having idea what was wrong and fearing the worse we left her for a few minutes,

:yikes: she has laid a egg from her perch,Sadly it broke.

How could she of been eggnant with no sign of it, I am in shock!

Now what should i do,go and get her a box tomorrow even if the eggs im sure will be unfertile. As there has never been any close relationship that we have seen...

Charlie is the white face,Doris is the pearl lacewing...

So I am noticing that House and Wilson have different poop. Wilson poops more and it is runny. House's poo is more formed. They eat the same stuff. I do think that Wilson might eat a l a little more of the pellets/herbs while House is a millet/seed monster. Would that account for the difference? None of them will eat fresh fruit or veggies yet.

Carl made the official decision to accept the grad position at Florida State, so we're moving to Tallahassee in the middle of August! I'm not excited about the weather, and I have no idea what I'll do over there, but we'll make it work. Carl and I will be driving across, and I will drive over with my pigs. Jackie will most likely take the birds and ship them over once we are settled.

BIGGGGGG move! It's scary. My biggest fear is that I will lose two of my grandparents while I'm over there. They all live locally, and they've never had health issues in the past, but two of them aren't doing so well. I've never lost anyone in my family before and I am scared to be 3000 miles away when it happens.

HELP!
Up to now i have had 98% success rate with eggs hatching this year,Lovebirds, canaries ect..The weather was mild and very very dry (drought dry). But for the last 10 days we have had rain nonstop and it has turned quite cold...
Some birds are in the shed others in the covered aviary,The pair of lovebirds had 5 out of 5 healthy chicks last time, this clutch only one hatched,
Sadly bourkes 4 chicks dead in shell, another pair of Lovebirds only one out of 5 hatch the rest dead in shell,3 zebra babies dead in shell....The list goes on...

All chicks have been fully formed but didn't make it out the shell....

I am now praying as i have linnie babies due any day and feel i could be in for the same problem....

i am so upset as to what has happened.....

So I've noticed that one of my boys has dry feet. They are not super dry, but dry enough for him to pick at them in his spare time.

He likes to gently chew on the scales on top of his toes. And just today I saw that he "peeled" a scale off, leaving a slightly red area. There is no blood at all, the peeled spot just looks a bit irritated from being skinned.

What can I put on his feet? I'd like something to help with dryness, but also something to help heal up this raw area. It'd be nice if the ointments are readily available in most stores, because I'd rather get them immediately than order online!

Thanks in advance!

I don't know what happened. I locked the cat up and put Maverick in his cage and went out to vaccinate my horses and when I came back he is holding his wing away from his body and down a little and it is trembling. There is no blood anywhere in the cage and nothing that I can see where he would have got it caught in. I can't tell if it is broken and my vet is away for the weekend. The next nearest vet is 4 hours away that will even consider looking at a bird. What should I do? I am freaking out right now. He is moving around in his cage and eating and drinking fine and he keeps preening that wing. Could it just be a pin feather bothering him since he is molting? Any help would be appreciated.

Hello all!

I've got a question and I can not find an answer to it anywhere on the forum or net. My question is:

Why are all the toys so colourful???

Can Linnies see colours? I am assuming they can, because they probably have to be able to see and pick the colourful fruits in the wild. However, if the toys are not so colourful (meaning, more natural colours, brownish-colours), will they not play with it?? I simply don't like the look of the colourful toys. They look like baby toys to me. I would want my cage to represent an environment that looks as natural as possible. Well, you certainly don't find colourful toys in the wild, do you... Furthermore, I find the colours of the Linnies so beautiful, and I find the colourful toys distract from this beautiful sight of the Linnies. Don't get me wrong, I am all for toys, I just preferred them to be more natural looking. And I could not find a reason stated somewhere, as to why they are often so colourful as they are. Do you know??? Do you have any experience with toys that have more natural colours? Are they used by the Linnies, or do they ignore them???

Thanks!

So... the semester is winding down, my monetary prospects are looking up and my thoughts have turned to birds... at the moment there is a lovely slaty headed parakeet named harley at C.A.A.R.E. I can't seem to find much about how noisy they are or what kinds of sounds they can make. He steps up to a specific whistle, which he mimicks. and what I have heard of his mumblings and warbleings is adorable! However I can't seem to find a definitive source to see if they are apartment friendly birds. Any one have any experience or a friend that has them? all i can find online is plum headeds, and those are a different species altogether. Well, that and a little dusky conure has stolen my heart! I can't find much on how their calls differ in intensity or frequency from other aratangias. I would like to adopt if at all possible. I'd prefer to not get a cockatiel because of my fiance's allergies, he's worried that not only will i choose a terribly noisy one, but a very dusty one as well! (although i would be willing to mist bathe them daily, and i do own a high end air cleaner...) I personally dont think aratangia screams are bad because they aren't shrill. And of course, if anyone does have linnies up here, they aren't re-homing them! Any thoughts on what these two may be like?

Hellohello!

I am Maren and I live in Scotland near Perth and Dundee. I am new to Linnies and am currently looking to get my very first bird. I don't mind if male or female. I like pretty much any colour, just not soooooo keen on the greens. Don't know why... they are just too green for me.

I read it is best to keep them with company, so two would be ideal, but I know how hard it can be to get them...

Let me know, if you have some yourself, or if you know someone, who might have some or knows someone, how might have some or knows someone, who might have some or... you get the idea.

Thank you so much! Looking forward to any replies!
Thanks!

Hello all!
I am brand new, I am so new, I don't even have a Linnie yet! Actually, that is rather sad. I stumbled across this forum whilst looking for a breeder in Scotland. Everything in Scotland seems rather rare and scarce, the only thing we have lots of is sheep! Not so the Linnies. Or Linnie breeders. I already tried to contact Mick, as I discovered in one of the threads that he breeds them and lives near Glasgow, which is not too far (I live near Perth and Dundee). But I need to post two posts before I can contact someone. Well, this is my second one, yay!

Are there any other breeders in Scotland? Could it be that there is one in Fife? Help!

And I have one big question: I noticed that many of you have only one Linnie... I thought they live in a flock? I thought they are similar to budgies which should always have some budgie company! Is that different in Linnies? If it is better for them to live with a partner, than that is what I would want to get, a pair. However, since they are yet so few of them around, maybe that is the reason for many Linnies living on their own?

From the first impression I got here, this seems to be a rather friendly forum, so looking forward to your replies!

Thanks,
Could handfeeding be "dangerous" if you want a breeding pair? would handfeeded birds be good parents?
