A hit with parrotlets, but also a fun idea for your shredder-happy linnie!
What You’ll Need:
3 newspaper pages
2 zipties
1 clip to attach your swing to the cage
Seeds
Step 1
Take 3 sheets of newspaper. Try to avoid the colored inks as they may be harmful to birds.

Step 2
Start folding them into thin, tight strips. Make sure you use the long edge of the newspaper. You want long strips of newspaper

Step 3
You can sprinkle on a few seeds if you like at this stage. This makes the toy fun for foraging. Most birds will rip and tear at this swing. Wouldn’t it be a great surprise to find seed treats inside?
Step 4
Continue folding rolling and twisting until it is in the shape of a rope.

Step 5
Then take a small zip tie and hold the ends together..make sure zip tie is pulled as tight as possible.

Step 6
Braid the papers together the same way you would braid hair, trying to keep it as even and as flat as possible.

Step 7… Pull second end around and zip tie onto the 1st end to make a circle. If it is hard to do you can add another zip tie to hold the ends until you can get it zip tied into a circle. Push a zip tie into the last one so you can attach a quick link to it and hang.

Hope any one who makes this is happy with it and your birds enjoy it as much as mine do.
Good luck!

What a fantastic idea…Boy you sure are smart…I think I’ll do one but not as a swing (well maybe for the cage)and just join them together as a rope for that wine rack I want to make into a play rack for the birds…Oh I am excited about this…I got a bunch of things today but this is sooo unique..A big THANK YOU….
This was so much fun to make! I made a whole bunch and created a chain link out of it!
